Salt River Shakedown: New Single August 27th

Salt River Shakedown have been tearing down the UK gigging circuit with their energetic brand of blues-rock for the last few years. Having played alongside such bands as Anchor Lane, Crobot, The Lazys, and US blues-rocker Jared James Nichols, they have developed a reputation for an explosive show. With the introduction last year of new vocalist Griff, and brand new keys player Clayton expanding the band into a 5 piece for the first time, and the success of their most recent singles Fight or Flight and Honey (which was ‘Single Of The Week’ on The Max), under their belt, the band are primed ready to unleash a new single which has ‘summer hit’ written all over it!

The band will be performing live up and down the country over the next few months and will be rounding off the year at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, Glasgow where they’ll be supporting The Dust Coda on the 6th December.

SRS are:

Griff (vocals)

Alek McMillan (guitar)

Shaun Kilna (bass)

Clayton Stirling (keys)

Jake Mackie-Duncan (drums)

New Single The Lowdown is released Friday 27th August.

“The Lowdown is a change of pace for Salt River Shakedown, being a more laid back and funky track than fans may be used to. Having broken into catchier territory on recent singles, combined with their signature rock riffs, the band wanted to expand their sound further and showcase what they can do as songwriters. Drawing influence from the old school Motown sound, and the funk-rock style of bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, the track comes together to create a feel-good summer vibe, both joyous and chilled out in equal measure, about letting go of the past, the people and the situations that no longer serve you” – Salt River Shakedown

As usual, the band takes a very hands-on approach with guitarist Alek McMillan recording and producing the track himself, and with a music video directed and edited by the band’s drummer Jake Mackie-Duncan. The Lowdown is a statement of intent from Salt River Shakedown, showing that they will not be confined to just one musical avenue and are willing and able to experiment with new and interesting sounds.
