Introducing: Tramston Valley

TramstonValley is a Japanese three-piece rock band based in Tokyo. Vocalist/guitarist Haruki spoke to us about the origins of the band, as well as his own personal musical memories.

What are the origins of TramstonValley, how long have you been playing together?

It’s an acoustic jam at “Infinity Books Japan” in Tokyo. That place is our origin and home. We have been playing together for 2 years.

How did you feel performing your first gig? And how was it?!

It was so exciting! Because we joined Frankenbok’s (legendary Australian metal band) Japan tour. I think we had a great performance and enjoyed it.

What should people expect when they check the band out? How would you describe yourself?

My voice and a very simple and original rock sound. If I had just one word to describe my music, it would be Jamerican Rock (Japanese + American)

The new music scene is bursting at the seams with fresh talent, in what ways do you feel that a band has to stand out from the others trying to build a name?

That’s a difficult question, I don’t know the answer. So we do what we can, with what we have, where we are.

What are you working on at the minute that people can check out?

We still have to stay home, so I upload cover songs on SoundCloud, and continue songwriting.

What band out there at the minute do you feel that you would be best suited to open for?

Any 90’s and 2000’s U.S rock and 70’s rock, blues rock.

Who do you feel is the next band to break out?

I hope TramstonValley.

What are your first musical memories? And what was the light bulb moment that made you go “I want to do that”?

When I was 13 years old my mother bought me an electric guitar. My uncle was a guitarist, so I thought; I wanna play guitar.

What was the last gig that you attended as a fan?

John Mayer’s Japan tour.

The album that you have in your album collection/Spotify playlist that would surprise most people?
