Royal Blood Announce 2021 Scholarship with WaterBear – The College of Music

Following the success of the first WaterBear Royal Blood Scholarship in 2020, the award-winning rock duo have announced that another scholarship will be offered in their name with WaterBear – The College of Music for September 2021. Hailing from Brighton, Royal Blood have an instant connection to the music college which is based in the famous North Laine area of the city.

Brighton-based music college WaterBear has an ethos focussed on making great music and nurturing musical innovation in today’s musicians and artists. The college attracts a broad range of musicians seeking to build a sustainable and innovative music career in a fast-paced industry, all of whom recognise the need to develop the right skills and resilience for career success.

Royal Blood’s characteristic sound draws parallels with the vibrant and bustling music of the city and its diverse arts scene. They are a genre-defining band, known for their pioneering approach and innovative way of music-making, which has led them to worldwide recognition and success. Royal Blood and WaterBear are made for each other.

The Royal Blood Scholarship award will cover all tuition fees for one lucky student throughout their degree studies at WaterBear. The course eligible for the Royal Blood scholarship award is the BA (Hons) Career Musician, which can be studied on-site in Brighton or online through distance learning. This approach gives musicians the flexibility to study in the way that suits them best, wherever they are in the world.

With a commitment to smaller classes, flexible courses, and one-on-one mentoring, WaterBear represents a new approach to higher education.

Royal Blood says:

“It’s great to be teaming up with WaterBear again to offer this scholarship award. We know how much this can make a difference to a new artist starting out and we can’t wait to hear the results.”

Last year’s Scholarship award winner, Avery Green, also had these words to say:

“An offer of a three-year scholarship such as the one so generously offered by Royal Blood is a life-changing opportunity that should certainly not be disregarded by anyone considering applying for the Career Musician course at WaterBear. With my tuition fees covered, I have been given the privilege of not having to worry about how long it might take to pay off my loans, allowing me to focus on further developing my career as an artist as soon as I leave university. You miss all of the shots you don’t take, so take this one!”

About the course:
