Get to know The Noble Front through TNF writer and creator Barry Gleeson’s words below…
What are the origins of The Noble Front, how long have you been playing together?
This is a new venture, with musicians who have known each other and played with each other for many years. We have played in thrash metal, grunge, and rock bands together and this is all 100% original, new, and raw. We’re excited to bring it to the scene.
What should people expect when they check The Noble Front? How would you describe yourself?
Honest, raw, and hard-hitting. We love the music for the music’s sake. When creating our first record, we compromised nothing to create the sound and songs that WE wanted to create. If even one person enjoys a single track, mission accomplished!!
How did you feel performing your first gig as a band, and how was it?!
We have just released our debut record and are in the process of finalising our line-up. We have some potential shows lined up and are excited to get the show on the road. The music needs a live experience, and we can’t wait to get going.
The new music scene is bursting at the seams at the minute with fresh talent, in what ways do you feel that a band has to stand out to build a name for themselves?
So much depends on the algorithm because of the amount of music that’s being produced these days. It’s amazing to be a music fan now, but way more difficult to be a musician full-time. You just need to get out, with a solid product in your music, and be seen. Play shows, network, have a defined and strong image, invest time in your marketing, etc. It’s the full spectrum, all or nothing, and then a huge dash of luck on top of everything else!
What are you working on at the minute that people can check out?
We just released our debut record; The Noble Front. It’s on all streaming platforms so please check it out if you like heavy, banging tunes.
Regarding a similar audience, which band at the minute do you feel The Noble Front would be best suited to open for?
Loads of excellent post-punk and rock bands on the scene at the minute. Idles, Fontaines DC, NewDad, The Murder Capital, Amyl and the Sniffers to name a few.
Excluding yourself, which new band would you like to see break out and become a success?
We are based in the west of Ireland, in Galway. I love this new band coming through, Shark School. They have a lot of real energy and put on a great live show.
What are your first musical memories? And what lightbulb moment made you go “I want to do that”?
Playing lead guitar in a thrash metal band in the west of Ireland called “Spare”! Buying my first Ibanez RG. Hearing the Seattle grunge scene bands for the first time. Hanging out at the local youth centre with like-minded wannabe musicians. Playing our first show.
What was the last gig that you attended as a fan?
I went to see the Onion Boys in Galway in a tiny pub in the city. Shark School supported. Great show and energy.
What current social issue are you particularly passionate about?
Although I separate the music from my political and social affiliations (rightly or wrongly), I feel strongly about the genocide in Gaza at the minute. There are lots of protests here about it and it’s unfathomable that it is still being tolerated internationally.
The album that you have in your album collection/Spotify playlist that would surprise most people?
I was listening to Charli XCX’s Crash recently and really enjoyed it!
What does 2024 hold for The Noble Front?
Gigs, more writing, more recording and releasing of music hopefully.
How active are you on social media and where can people connect with you?
Quite active and always reply to questions and comments etc. Below are my socials.
