Introducing: Rabid Hood

Rabid Hood is a hard rock band from Vestland, Norway, debut EP ‘Spiteful’ recently landed, and vocalist Roger Olsen was on hand to talk us through the early days of the band, and what you can expect when you check the band out…

What are the origins of Rabid Hood, how long have you been playing together?

Rabid Hood is a new band we started to work with in 2015 and in 2021 we finally could make it happen. We have released our debut EP ‘Spiteful’ produced by Beau Hill music production. Band members come from well-established bands with extensive experience in the Metal and Rock n Roll stage.

What should people expect when they check the band out? How would you describe Rabid Hood?

Well, Rabid Hood is a melodious Hard Rock band from Vestland/Norway. The band has extensive experience in the Metal and Rock n Roll stage with members from Helheim, ex-Taake, Trelldom, Nattverd, Aventyr, and Spitfire++.

‘Spiteful’ and ‘Hard to Get’ are hard-hitting melodious hard rock songs with the influence of heavy metal. I think ‘Spiteful’ is the song we are most proud of, lead guitarist Noralf’s solo [Noralf Venås] is truly a masterpiece, the hard-hitting drummer with a touch of metal, hard rock and rock at the same time, rhythm guitar and bass which creates a solid foundation for success and a vocalist who tops it all., The production and performance of the songs we are really proud of, the lyrics are about people who need but do not get what they want and has inspiration from reality, I think many will recognize themselves there and being in that atmosphere.

How did you feel performing your first gig as a band, and how was it?!

Was very nervous before my first gig just before I wet my pants it was absolutely awful…but eventually, it was a huge kick, and just wanted to keep on going. And here we are.

The new music scene is bursting at the seams at the minute with fresh talent, in what ways do you feel that a band has to stand out to build a name for themselves?

What does 2022 hold for Rabid Hood?

We have big ambitions to get out there and play our music in front of live audience as much as we can, and we have a lot of music ready to be recorded for a whole album, so there is a lot of work ahead. We want to try to make Rabid Hood a hard-hitting hard rock band that people notices and talk about, and I hope we will achieve that in this crazy music world we live in LoL. And that is our modest goal.
