“Wales’ hidden answer to the Foo Fighters” – Classic Rock
“One of the best-kept secrets in British music today?” – Devils Gate Media
Welsh rockers Sonny Jim waste no time getting into 2020 with their new single. Mutual’ is released on all digi platforms on January 31 via Holier Than Thou Records.
Check out the video on their YouTube channel and above.
‘Mutual’ rests on a big, downtuned riff and – as you’d expect of Sonny Jim – a hooky singalong chorus. Listen closer and you’ll hear lyrics on a theme of reconciliation, of coming together. As we enter the new decade it’s a message that’s urgent and sorely needed, both in the Jims’ native UK and the wider world.
The four-piece, from Bridgend in South Wales, saw out 2019 with their well-received EP ‘Galvanised’, and its success led them to play two rare live shows in Cardiff’s top rock club, Fuel. They’re currently working on music for their brand new album and hit the studio in March with long-time producer/engineer Tim Hamill (Buck & Evans, Son Of Man). The album’s tentatively scheduled for release late 2020 – we will of course keep you informed.
Meantime, the plan is to don their trademark double denim, get out there and play new tunes to their fast-growing fanbase. Sonny Jim are excited, and hope the feeling’s Mutual…
