Sonny Jim: Announce ‘Sweet 16’

“Wales’ hidden answer to the Foo Fighters” – Classic Rock
“One of the best-kept secrets in British music today?” – Devils Gate Media

Sonny JimSonny Jim mark a new chapter in their story with Sweet 16 – a collection of 16 highlights from their acclaimed, hard-rocking catalogue.

At the dawn of 2020 things were looking good for the Welsh four-piece. They’d played some rare, well-received shows at Cardiff’s leading rock club Fuel (with one set captured in all its raw glory by a fan’s GoPro), and their riff-heavy single ‘Mutual’ was named one of the Tracks Of The Week by Classic Rock magazine. Excited to build on their new momentum and armed with a set of killer new tunes, they booked the studio to begin work on the new album. Then – as we all know – the world stopped…

To keep themselves sane in the past year of global pandemic and lockdown, Sonny Jim have kept talking, kept writing, and have kept the faith. Over time they came to see 2020/21 as the end of an era and the dawn of a new one, which is where their new compilation comes in.

Sweet 16 is a collection of songs chosen by the band and their fans. It represents a body of work the boys are rightly proud of, and the foundation for the music yet to come. All tracks were recorded between 2012 and 2020 at Sonic One Studios and produced by Tim Hamill [Buck & Evans, Tyketto, GirIschool]. ‘Sweet 16’ will be released on Holier Than Thou Records on February 26, 2021, and will be available on all digi platforms.

Sonny Jim are from Bridgend, the South Wales town that also bred Those Damn Crows, Bullet For My Valentine and Funeral For A Friend. Like the rest of the rock world – they can’t wait to be back on stage, and when that day comes, they’ll be ready…
