Review: LTNT – 'YODE' EP

“Fuck bunny… where is the love” comes in, Lever goes for a softer vocal, but not for long, as once the chorus fades out it’s hello chaos! Hugely enjoyable with a real sneer to it. Current single ‘Whitey’ is a bit of a mind-fuck, with so many changes in style it will make your head explode. Better to not overthink it and just enjoy the offering. A fat bass guitar sound helps give the song quite a funky, sleazy vibe. Remember the underground sex club scene in ‘Seven’? All flashing strobes and pounding electronica… well here’s the track that they didn’t use. Lever mixes it up with a strong, clear vocal that highlights his full range. People might pick up a Queens Of The Stone Age vibe, but I would say it has more of a Nine Inch Nails influence. ‘Happy Days’ is grungy in places; Alice In Chains riffs with some skull-rattling rhythm from Ben Clarke on bass and drummer Adam Stanley. It’s quite hypnotic, especially during the swirling electronics at the end. With its towering vocals and less harsh tones, ‘Call It What You Like’ completely changes the feel of the EP.  The big-assed riffs that explode, as the song comes crashing to an end, are incredible. ‘YODE’ was co-produced by Lever with Shaun Morgan and Matt Hyde. That’s Shaun Morgan from Seether, who also signed LTNT to his Canine Riot label imprint. He likes the band a lot. You may have caught LTNT on the last Seether UK tour? It’s a diverse four tracks, in the sense that you never know just what is lurking around the corner. It doesn’t play it safe at all, and leaves you imagining what a full length album would bring.
