DEVILS GATE MUSIC
Dutch/Brazilian metal act Phantom Elite have issued a video for a song entitled ‘Glass Crown’ from their new album, ‘Titanium’, which was released via the Frontiers label on 22nd January.
Vocalist Marina La Torraca explains that “it’s a cautionary tale about social media culture, a competition for a fragile glass crown. Who has never felt sick of it all? Filters, all the carefully curated content and complex levels of pressure points, it wears on you. We, as artists, need it as a platform to share our work, but we can also make a stand. And who said headbanging and dancing don’t go together?”
Fronted by Brazilian singer Marina La Torraca (Exit Eden, live vocalist for Avantasia), Phantom Elite also feature songwriting and production from Dutch guitarist and producer Sander Gommans (ex-After Forever). Together with Max van Esch (guitars) and Joeri Warmerdam (drums), they have just unleashed their incredible second album, ‘Titanium’, which combined elements of symphonic, progressive, alternative and heavy metal to create a fresh new sound.
Originating in 2014, the seed of Phantom Elite sprang from the HDK project of Sander Gommans. For the album ‘Serenades of the Netherworld’, he had brought together a group of young musicians to perform its songs live, but the natural and passionate chemistry between them sparked a wealth of new and exciting musical ideas and thus Phantom Elite was born. A debut album, ‘Wasteland’ (2018), plus a well received European tour showed that Phantom Elite were ready to take flight.
