Oli Brown & The Dead Collective unveil the simultaneously somber and uplifting new video ‘Haunted’ featuring the highly acclaimed international artist Jo Quail on cello. The award winning UK guitarist and songwriter Oli states, “Haunted was a song that came out of a pretty dark place. I wasn’t in a great mental headspace and started questioning many of my decisions. The whole song came together as a full-on rock piece, and while I love it, sometimes the weight of riffs, big drums and guitar solos can take away from the song’s content.”
The alternative take of the songs engaging and visceral video precedes their highly anticipated September headline tour taking in some of the finest club venues of the UK which is on sale now HERE. The tour follows the release of 2 gripping EP’s, ‘Prelude’ and ‘Prologue’ (available to buy/download now) which both received rave reviews across the board from critics and listeners in unison. Dark, haunting and with an epic scale cinematic scope, their songs traverse the depths of the human psyche with unflinching truth; this epitomises the band.
Oli opens up further, “We discussed doing an alternative version that was a lot more desolate just featuring acoustic, my vocals and strings; so we brought Jo Quail to guest with us and write the string arrangement over the demo vocal and guitar we put down. The way her string arrangement intertwined with the acoustic & vocal demo led us to keep the original takes, as there was something unpolished and honest about those takes that just felt real. I also wanted to highlight at the end of the video that there are people to reach out to. I wish I had been more aware of what was available when I was in a mentally unhealthy place.
