Live Review: Geoff Tate – Bannermans, Edinburgh

“People have been married to this song, people have been buried to this song, people have been born to this song ,and people have even been made to this song” and the beautiful arpeggio of ‘Silent Lucidity’ rings out clear as a bell. It can’t be easy to play a song that means so much, to so many, so often and keep it fresh, but tonight it sounds truly special. There was a heartfelt ‘thank you’ yelled out as the sound died, maybe that helps. ‘Empire’ and ‘Jet City Woman’ close the show, and Geoff Tate and the band troop out to high fives, slaps on the back, and cheers. Rumour has it that the boys will return to auld reekie next year. If you have the opportunity to see them, it would be a crime to not take it. In fact you would need to be out of your mind. See what I did there!
