Introducing: Vital Noise

Vital Noise is a young alternative rock/post hardcore band from Los Angeles, California. The band consists of brothers Andrew and Preston Wilmot, as well as various drummers. Check out current ‘Dangerous’ here, and find out more about Vital Noise below.

DGM: What are the origins of the band, and how long have you been playing together?

VN: We are two brothers from Los Angeles, CA. We have both been playing music together since we were very young. We would always jam in each other’s bedrooms, but in 2013 we decided to form a full time band, and became what we are today.

DGM: How did you feel performing your first gig? And how was it?

VN: It was really exciting. Our first gig as a band was at The Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles. It was really cool getting to play such a legendary place, especially for our first gig. It is definitely something we will remember forever.

DGM: What should people expect when they check the band out? How would you describe yourselves?

VN: We are a rock band, but we are influenced by a ton of different genres. We have a lot of different elements in our music, ranging from metal all the way to pop.

DGM: The new music scene is bursting at the seams with fresh talent. In what ways do you feel a band has to stand out from the others trying to build a name?

VN: Having good music is the most important thing. Besides that, a band needs to have good charisma, good stage presence, and an image that sticks in people’s minds.

DGM: What are you working on at the moment that people can check out?

VN: We are currently working on new demos that we will be putting out soon, so look out for them! (stream new single ‘Dangerous’ here)

DGM: What band out there at the moment do you feel that you would be best suited to open for?

VN: Bring Me The Horizon would probably be the best band for us to open up for. Our genres are very similar and, like us, they have gone out of the realms of their original genre. We are also huge fans, so it would be an honour to be able to open for them.

DGM: Who do you feel will be the next band to break out?

VN: Probably some rapper on SoundCloud. It seems like those guys are the ones that are really breaking out lately.

DGM: What are your first musical memories? And what was the light bulb moment that made you go “I want to do that!”

VN: We’ve both been playing ever since we can remember. Instruments were always laying around the house when we were kids, so we would just pick them up and kinda bang around. Once we got into middle school and high school we both realised that we really loved doing music and that it was what we wanted to do. We were both just sitting around one day, and were kinda like “you wanna do this?” and we were both like “okay!”.

DGM: What was the last gig that you attended as a fan?

VN: The Rolling Stones at The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. It was an incredible show and was super nostalgic to see such a legendary band.

DGM: What is the album that you have in your collection or Spotify playlist that would surprise most people?

VN: Astroworld by Travis Scott or Culture II by Migos. We listen to a lot of hip hop, and people are always surprised that we do.

DGM: What are your plans for the remainder of 2020?

VN: Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic all of our gigging and touring has been put on indefinite hold. But we have been writing a lot of new music, and are planning to record new demos of all the stuff we have been writing while in quarantine.

DGM: How active are you on social media and where can people connect with you?

VN: We are active on social media. All our social media links are listed below:
