Introducing: Fuzz Evil

Getting to know Fuzz Evil; a Fuzz rock band hailing from the borderlands of Arizona. High Energy, Soaring Vocals and Fuzzzzzzzzzz

What are the origins of the band, how long have you been playing together?

Fuzz Evil was started in 2013 by my brother Joseph Rudell and I (Wayne Rudell). We have been playing together since we were little kids. We just came off a tour with our band Powered Wig Machine and wanted to do something more fuzzed-out psych and doom.

What should people expect when they check the band out? How would you describe Fuzz Evil?

If you listen to our band we used fuzz-out riffs to write rock bangers. Big Melodies and nasty grooves.

How did you feel performing your first gig as a band, and how was it?!

Our first show was at an underage venue that was packed. It felt good to do something different and at the time a 3 piece band just hit differently.

The new music scene is bursting at the seams at the minute with fresh talent, in what ways do you feel that a band has to stand out to build a name for themselves?

I think there are two ways for a band to stand out. They have to be against the grain or so exceptionally good in their genre that they are undeniable.

What are you working on at the minute that people can check out?

We just released a cover of The Cars “Just What I Needed” Check it out! https://open.spotify.com/track/4KZHU2FokUMLGeKq1YHbf8?si=b6c739a6823845e5

In terms of a similar audience, which band out there at the minute do you feel Fuzz Evil would be best suited to open for?

Honestly, I think there are a few. I think we could open for Queens of The Stone Age, Royal Blood, and Tigercub, and the vibes would be great.

Excluding yourself, which new band would you like to see break out and become a success?

There has been one band that are great guys that have seen some success and that band is Tigercub. Those guys are such a great band that I think they should be huge.

What are your first musical memories? And what was the lightbulb moment that made you go “I want to do that”?

I remember watching the energy that Nirvana had from their “Smell Like Teen Spirit” video. It just looked fun to be able to play guitar like that.

What was the last gig that you attended as a fan?

I just recently went to watch Royal Blood in Phx about a month ago. Those guys are so damn good.

What current social issue are you particularly passionate about?

I would say just the simple “Truth” We don’t seem to get it anywhere anymore.

The album that you have in your album collection/Spotify playlist that would surprise most people?

Well, I gotta say I have always been a huge fan of Lana Del Rey. Her new record is quite good.

There were some amazing new albums released last year, what would be your album of the year?

This year was an exceptional year for music released. Here is a link to my favorite records of 2023. https://outlawsofthesun.blogspot.com/2023/12/wayne-rudell-from-doomfuzzstoner.html

What does 2024 hold for Fuzz Evil?

Well, we plan to release a lot of music this year to make up for the 5-year hiatus. I am hoping for a ton of singles and a few EPs as well as a couple of tours.

How active are you on social media and where can people connect with you?

We are very active on all of our social media accounts. Check out our link tree to follow us everywhere. Cheers!
