Introducing: Arcadian Haze

Arcadian Haze are a Grit Pop band whose funky grooves combine rap and hip hop beats with indie rock n roll to create the new sound of working-class Northern England. Singer/songwriter Tye talks us through the background of the band.

What are the origins of the band, how long have you been playing together?

We formed in 2017. Myself (Tye) and Jamie had been in a band together called A.K.A Pipeline and Rosey and Gilby had been together in Gaia so as Tye and Rosey worked together and both needed a band nature took its cause; Nathan who also worked with them had a clear talent for rap so was the natural man to fill the void when we knew that was the route we were going to pursue.

How did you feel performing your first gig? And how was it?!

There was a few nerves before but nothing that a few pints couldn’t sort out, once we got going it was just unreal the place was bouncing… beers everywhere!

What should people expect when they check the band out?

Real northern working-class vibes.

How would you describe yourself?

An ordinary man on an extraordinary journey.

The new music scene is bursting at the seams with fresh talent, in what ways do you feel that a band has to stand out from the others trying to build a name?

Be unique and don’t compromise for anyone or anything. Write good lyrics too, that really is a dying art.

What are you working on at the minute that people can check out?

We have just released our debut E.P ‘Love on the Dole’ and we’re currently working on the follow up which we are hoping to record when lockdown ends.

What band out there at the minute do you feel that you would be best suited to open for?

Happy Mondays.

Who do you feel is the next band to break out?

Arcadian Haze.

What are your first musical memories? And what was the light bulb moment that made you go “I want to do that”?

Fuck knows… I was born for this shit.

What was the last gig that you attended as a fan?

Liam Gallagher at Lancashire Cricket Club in August 2018.

The album that you have in your album collection/Spotify playlist that would surprise most people?

ABBA GOLD.

Although 2020 was a year to forget for many reasons, there was some incredible music released; what would be your album of 2020?

The Streets – ‘None of us are getting out of this life alive’.

How active are you on social media and where can people connect with you?

If you’re talking to me personally I ain’t active on social media whatsoever, in my eyes, it’s a cancer to the world… if you’re speaking on band terms then yeah we’re active it’s important you interact with fans of your music and keep them interested. You can find us on all the usual platforms Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
