Anders L. Rasmussen – vocalist/guitarist of Norwegian power trio Ohmwork – recently launched his solo material which has seen him going down more of an Americana-singer-songwriter route. Connect with Anders, below:
What are the origins of the band, how long have you been playing together?
Still early days. The first release was back in November. As a band, we have had only one gig, myself and three local musicians. I am planning to have them with me the next time around. When, I am not sure. I have some solo gigs planned, just me and my guitar.
What should people expect when they check your music out? How would you describe yourself?
This is a side project for me to write and perform songs I can’t do in my main band, Ohmwork. That is a hard rock/metal band. My solo project is more of an Americana/singer-songwriter thing.
How did you feel performing your first gig as a band, and how was it?!
It felt fabulous! No nerves at all, just having fun. I was ready – well rehearsed.
What are you working on at the minute that people can check out?
My solo project. You find me on all the streaming services out there. Three songs have been released. New ones coming.
In terms of a similar audience, which artist out there at the minute do you feel you would be best suited to open for?
Jason Isbell. One of the main influences doing this!
Excluding yourself, which new band would you like to see break out and become a success?
Check out Vilde Bye. Local and up-and-coming.
What frustrates you about the music business?
We are all, apart from the big guns, really small fishes in a big sea. It’s easy to release music, so to stand out is more or less impossible. There is so much music out there, fantastic music that doesn’t get the recognition it deserves!
What are your first musical memories? And what was the lightbulb moment that made you go “I want to do that”?
Listening to Kiss cassettes at the age of four or five. Then again hearing Angus Young playing the intro of Thunderstruck. Got my guitar not long after.
What was the last gig that you attended as a fan?
Beth Hart at Sentrum Scene in Oslo. Fantastic concert! What an artist and performer she is!
What current social issue are you particularly passionate about?
Poor municipal finances, school closures, and a world out of balance with sick people in leadership positions.
The album that you have in your album collection/Spotify playlist that would surprise most people?
I’ve got a Cher CD somewhere – to my brother’s big frustration. Mind you I was 10-11 years old trying to find new music to listen to. The Kiss years were over.
Everybody is a fan of something, who or what are you a fan of?
I am a big supporter of Liverpool FC! I really love F1 and in particular the McLaren team. And of course, a big music lover!
What new music have you been enjoying so far this year?
So far there have been some really good releases this year. The best one so far is the band Avatarium, I would say.
What does 2025 hold for you?
Releasing music. Album in the fall!
How active are you on social media and where can people connect with you?
For my solo project, it is still early days. You can find me at Spotify where my profile is up to date. Other than that, try Bluesky.
