Review: Terror – 'The Walls Will Fall'

Terror are a five-piece American hardcore band, forming in 2002, Los Angeles, California. To date, they’ve written and released a whopping five studio albums, three live albums, two split EP’s, two demos, and one compilation album. Their latest EP is ‘The Walls Will Fall’, and will drop on the 28th of April 2017 via Triple B Records and Pure Noise.

With such a previously prolific output, it seems strange that it’s been two years, since we have heard new material from Terror. For them to announce that they are only releasing a five track EP is also unexpected after such a wait. I mean yeah, cool – happy that they’re still alive and kicking, and that new material is here, but the EP is only 9:14 minutes long. Two years of waiting for only 9:14 minutes is a bit underwhelming, ain’t it? Does that mean we can expect the next album in five years? As always, Terror indulge and pride themselves in what’s going on in the world. This is who they are, this is what they are, and this is their statement. The lead release from the EP, ‘Kill Em Off’ also happens to be my favourite. The reason being is that the subject matter is politically correct on so many levels. It doesn’t really matter which way you take the lyrics, you can somehow relate yourself or other people to them. People chat shit but truth speaks! ‘No Love Lost’ is another highlight from ‘The Walls Will Fall’. There’s such raw, raging emotion in this track. We’ve all been there, we’ve all known a snake, a blood sucker, someone who drags you down, someone who’s taken advantage of your good intentions. Fuck those people! This track is what hardcore is all about. Let out all of the pent up rage you’ve suppressed for however long! Overall, this very small and short EP absolutely ruled, despite the initial underwhelming feeling from seeing the short play time. Hey ho… I’m only assuming that there’s an album just around the corner and Terror have us all fooled. For now… Terror are, for me, the hardcore band of their time!   Review: Carol Black
