Silver Dollar Room – Exclusive track by track feature

Powerful Scottish fivesome, Silver Dollar Room, are ready to make their mark with their highly-anticipated sophomore album, It Can’t Rain All The Time, out Friday, 12th September. Ahead of the release, we exclusively caught up with the band and asked them to give us a unique track-by-track breakdown of the album:

Normal People
Opening the album, ‘Normal People’ delves into the often-silenced subject of male suicide and the unravelling of failed relationships. This track follows two individuals locked in a tragic, self-destructive relationship, exploring the painful yet necessary decisions they must face to rescue themselves. It’s an honest look at vulnerability, accountability, and hope for redemption.

Come Morning
A song born from frustration and a deep longing for connection. It speaks to anyone who’s ever craved to be truly seen and understood. Lyrically, it dives into the struggles of self-expression, the weight of insecurity, and the constant search for validation in a troubling world.

Breathe
A powerful sequel to Weaponised from the debut album ‘Gilded Echoes,’ ‘Breathe’, confronts the emotional vulnerability of becoming a father at a young age. It explores feelings of helplessness, fear of the unknown, and the painful acceptance of fractured relationships. Yet amidst the chaos, the song finds a thread of resilience, transforming vulnerability into a source of strength and optimism.

Purple
Purple is a track inspired by the tragic prevalence of youth suicide. Addressing issues like bullying, mental health struggles, self-harm, and social isolation, the song serves as a sobering commentary on a crisis that modern society must urgently confront. It’s a call for awareness, compassion, and systemic change.

Eyes
An immersive portrayal of daily life through the lens of someone on the autistic spectrum, ‘Eyes’ captures the overwhelming experience of sensory overload in public spaces. The song reflects on how these intense moments can alter one’s life path, leading to unexpected journeys and personal revelations. A sonic exploration of perception, isolation, and quiet resilience.

Crazy Heart
Crazy Heart tells the story of walking away from a soulmate to face personal demons and battles with addiction. It speaks to the longing to hit reset and recapture what was lost, while grappling with the harsh truth that the past cannot be undone. A melancholic journey through regret, self-discovery, and hard-earned wisdom.

Can’t Rain
Taking its name from the cult classic film ‘The Crow’ (1994), “Can’t Rain” is an unflinching examination of addiction and alcoholism. The song emphasises how those trapped by addiction often live in the shadows of their past mistakes or are paralyzed by fear of the future, losing sight of the present moment. A hard-hitting reflection on the importance of mindfulness and self-compassion amidst chaos.

Smile
With cryptic and introspective lyrics, Smile navigates the ongoing internal battles faced by individuals on the autistic spectrum. It’s a nuanced reflection on identity, self-acceptance, and the complexities of masking one’s true self in a world that demands conformity.

Monsters
Inspired by the harrowing BBC documentary ‘Three Girls’, ‘Monsters’ tackles the painful subject of the Rochdale child abuse scandal. The song sheds light on how working-class girls were systematically failed by authorities who dismissed their voices, branding them as unreliable and liars. It is a damning critique of societal and institutional neglect, giving a voice to the voiceless and holding up a mirror to the failures of those in power.

Broken
Broken offers a broader reflection on modern society, examining how wealth, greed, and the relentless pursuit of power/money can distort reality. The song reflects on how money corrupts individuals, governments, and entire societies, blurring the lines between truth and deception. A sobering commentary on human nature and the dark side of materialism.”
