Orchid Symmetry – exclusive track by track

Energetic alt trio ORCHID SYMMETRY are set to light up the scene again with their self-titled new EP, Orchid Symmetry, which is out now. With that in mind, we exclusively spoke to the band and asked them to give us a track-by-track breakdown of the record:

Like the Sun –

Like the Sun lures you into a false sense of lust and physical intimacy. But beneath the surface lies something far more unsettling: a reflection on the blurred line between pleasure and destruction, longing and the blood-warm thrill of holding life, and the end of it, in your hands. It speaks to the shadow we all carry, that quiet place where craving and control, ecstasy and cruelty, begin to intertwine.

Feeding the Wolves Pt 2

‘Feeding the Wolves” is feeding your fears. It is something we all have to tackle: the fear of the uncertainty surrounding the challenges we face and, ultimately, the fear of the unknown.  When it feels like the whole world is against you, you must face the choice of keeping the “wolves” at bay or succumbing to the fear.

Cannonball

While a few songs take influence from past events and trauma, ‘Cannonball ‘ delves into the dark path of self-destruction and the fragility of life. Trying to live each day as the perfect moral man while inadvertently following a devastating downward spiral, this song’s message emphasises how easily everything you hold dear can be lost.

Lies They Tell You

Politics, media, religion, advertising, social media, hierarchy, bureaucracy… What’s real anymore?  Where does one lie end and another begin?  The ferocious riff and lyrics combine to vent the overbearing anger and frustration we are all subjected to throughout our lives. Meanwhile, war, poverty, and greed continue to consume the world.

Sadistic

‘Sadistic’ explores the other side to us- the darker side; the side that no one sees. Shaking off the constraints of social norms and exploring the side to us that is just longing to escape, this song explores taboos and leaving prudish standards behind so that we don’t deny ourselves what we truly want.
