Introducing: The Stage Of Dreams

Emerging from the shadows of western Pennsylvania’s rustbelt, The Stage of Dreams stands as a testament to the transformative power of music. Their musical roots are intertwined with traditional power metal, progressive metal, and atmospheric storytelling – resulting in a sound that is both ethereal and invigorating. Vocalist and founding member Daniel Butch with the answers in our introduction to The Stage of Dreams.

What are the origins of The Stage Of Dreams?

Daniel: The Stage of Dreams concept was initially an idea I had well over a decade ago. There were some compromises in the beginning, and it wasn’t until around 2019 that the Metal version became a reality.

What should people expect when they check the band out? How would you describe The Stage Of Dreams?

We do everything possible to deliver high-quality recordings and interesting live performances. We even have a metal rock opera based on our 2024 album The Duality Conflict. I would describe us as a mix between Savatage, Iron Maiden, and Frozen Crown.

How did you feel performing your first gig as a band, and how was it?!

Our first show as the metal version of The Stage of Dreams was pretty decent considering it was during the pandemic and people had to wear masks if they weren’t at a table and they weren’t allowed to stand. There were chairs stacked on the side of the stage with yellow caution tape draped over them. We were very confident in our performance and were honored to be playing a show with the legendary Wretch.

What are you working on at the minute that people can check out?

We are mostly trying to line up shows and compile ideas for the next album though by all means check out our new music video for Killingback Woods.

Regarding a similar audience, which band at the minute do you feel that The Stage of Dreams would be best suited to open for?

I think we would go well with KK’s Priest. We played a couple of shows with Ripper Owens and he was very down to earth. His crowd really got into our music too!!

Excluding yourself, which new band would you like to see break out and become a success?

Personally, I would like to see a band like Idol Throne become a huge success. I met them a couple of years back at The Legions of Metal festival in Chicago. They are really cool dudes and their new album “A Clarion Call” is outstanding.

What frustrates you about the music business?

Practically everything!! The effort it takes to get a solid band together because so many people have already given up. The fact that after you release music there’s a whole entire mountain to climb just to get people to listen and give your art a chance. The fact that we have to figure out so much on our own and we have to be more than a band. We have to act as label, promoter, booking agent, and artists.

What are your first musical memories? And what was your lightbulb moment that made you say “I want to do that”?

I’ve always loved music and as a teen, I used to fantasize about being in a band like ZZ Top or Def Leppard but it wasn’t until I saw the band Cinderella open for Bon Jovi at The Civic Arena that I decided that’s it, that’s I want to be! I didn’t yet know that I could sing and I set my sights on being a bass guitarist.

What was the last gig that you attended as a fan?

I just saw the Days of Future Past tour. Iron Maiden never disappoints, and the sold-out arena got what they showed up for. This time I got seats directly in the back perfectly centered so I could see the entire stage show.

What current social issues are you particularly passionate about?

In general, I believe everyone should treat others as they themselves wish to be treated. The biggest issue we have is the mass media brainwashing. I’d like to see people start thinking for themselves instead of being told what to think and what to like but we need honest reporting that isn’t tainted by the almighty dollar.

The album that you have in your album collection/Spotify playlist that would surprise most people?

Irons in The Fire by Redlight King is a lot different than anything else I listen to. It doesn’t have the dynamic vocals or instrumentation I prefer but for some reason I love it.

Everybody is a fan of something, who or what are you a fan of?

I am a fan of Heavy Metal!! I attend shows for major acts like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Sabaton as well as underground bands like Iron Flame, Olathia, Attaxe, and Idol Throne. Metal makes every day better.

What new music have you been enjoying so far this year?

At the top of my list is RIOT V, Mean Streets!! I also have been listening to Haunt, Night Demon, and High Spirits.

What does 2025 hold for The Stage of Dreams?

We have some killer shows lined up. A highlight will be the Rock Opera show in March!! We have other news that we can’t reveal yet, but it entails international travel!

How active are you on social media and where can people connect with you?

We are very active on Facebook and somewhat active on YouTube. Facebook is definitely the best place to interact, but we also have our official website at www.thestageofdreams.com
