Introducing: Small Town Saviours

UK rock ‘n’ rollers, Small Town Saviours, charge onwards, armed with their formidable new single and video, Alkaline, out on Friday 24th April. Lance (vocals & guitar) spills the beans on all things Small Town Saviours-related.

What are the origins of the band? How long have you been playing together?

Hi, thanks for having us! Three of us were in another band, The Black Bullets, a few years back (myself, Skinny Pete & Carl D). When that came to an end, we wanted to keep playing and writing together. My long-time friend and bass player, T-Bone, joined us, completing the lineup in 2019.

What should people expect when they check the band out? How would you describe Small Town Saviours?

I always say a mixture of Rock, Punk, Rock & Roll, with pop sensibilities. Think along the lines of Backyard Babies, Green Day, The Wildhearts, with a bit of KISS & Gn’R thrown in for good measure, and you are somewhere close, I guess. As always with music, though, different people are going to hear different things

How did you feel performing your first gig as a band, and how was it?!

For me, nervous as it was my first time back singing and playing guitar live for a long while. But we were all excited to be giving people a taste of the music and the new band.
For a first gig, we couldn’t have asked for better, as we were supporting the mighty Warrior Soul!

What are you working on at the moment that people can check out?

Since the start of 2025, we’ve been releasing new material as singles, each with its own music video. Some of these were all DIY, and some animated. Right now, we’re gearing up to release our newest single, ‘Alkaline’, and accompanying ‘Live Footage’ music video. We’re working with the amazing Garry at SanPR to push this one a bit further, as we feel this one is a cut above!

Regarding a similar audience, which band at the moment do you feel that you would be best suited to open for?

I would say we’d be perfect to open for Jim Jones All Stars, Supersuckers, or Danko Jones. Obviously, if Green Day or The Wildhearts asked, then I certainly wouldn’t say no!

Excluding yourself, which new band would you like to see break out and become a success?

I’m going to go for a few that I really like; Rats Eat Rats, Stud Farm Mafia & Revenant….all fantastic bands that deserve success!

What frustrates you about the music business?

The main frustration is getting the music out further than your immediate fanbase on social media without it costing you a small fortune. And of course, having to keep coming up with content……. didn’t it used to be about just making music??

What are your first musical memories? And what lightbulb moment made you say, “I want to do that”?

Hearing my parents playing The Beatles, T Rex, Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones…..the list goes on. I was lucky to be brought up on decent music. For me, it was hearing Guns n’ Roses ‘Mr Brownstone’ and later the whole Appetite album…..it just blew me away, and I became obsessed!

What was the last gig that you attended as a fan?

It was Mr. B The Gentleman Rhymer. If you’re not familiar, then I highly recommend checking him out! He’s created his own musical brand of ‘Chap Hop’

What current social issues are you particularly passionate about?

With the current state of the world, there’s no shortage of issues to be concerned about! I guess the cost-of-living crisis in the UK is the one that evokes the most passion.

The album that you have in your album collection/Spotify playlist that would surprise most people?

I’ve had a lot of surprised reactions over the years from people looking through my record collection, finding Frank Sinatra, Elton John, NWA, The Best of Samantha Fox…… There is even a One Direction album that a friend gave me as a joke (A different friend that gifted me The Best of Samantha Fox!) It remains still sealed….I swear!

Everybody is a fan of something. Who or what are you a fan of?

Aside from music. I have a big love for Horror films and a good book.

What new music have you enjoyed so far this year?

A Pound of Feathers by The Black Crowes and the singles Heathen Days – Rob Zombie, Shine Again – Weezer & At War with Myself – Rachel Bolan

What does 2026 hold for Small Town Saviours?

Releasing, writing, recording, making music videos……all on our quest to bring you the finest Rock & Roll!

How active are you on social media, and where can people connect with you?

We’re pretty active across all the platforms.

You can find us on Facebook, Insta, TikTok, YouTube, Spotify, and anywhere they will let four loveable rogues like us in!
