Introducing: Saints Among Us

Rising Brit alt-rockers Saints Among Us continue their climb with the recent release of their deeply engrossing new single, Hunger. Get to know the band with Maddy (vocals) acting as your tour guide, below:

What are the origins of Saints Among Us?

Our band came together at different stages of our lives. Brad and Adam, who are brothers, started creating music together early on. I joined after meeting Adam in college, bringing softer, harmony-focused vocals that contrast yet complement the heavier, melodic instrumentation. Rahmaal joined us during university, adding more rhythm, dynamic riffs, and breakdowns, while Brad’s long-time friend Tom later completed the line-up. We’ve been playing together in this form for a few years now, constantly evolving and refining our sound.

What should people expect when they check the band out? How would you describe Saints Among Us?

Expect an emotional journey filled with powerful, hard-hitting alternative rock. Our sound balances raw intensity with melodic depth, blending heavy riffs, emotive harmonies, and deeply heartfelt lyrics. Think Sleep Token meets Architects with a hint of PVRIS.

How did you feel performing your first gig as a band, and how was it?!

I think it was 2016 when we played our first gig, and we were terrible. Everything was chaotic—missed notes, shaky timing—but the excitement of being on stage made up for it. Looking back, it’s funny how far we’ve come since those early days.

What are you working on at the minute that people can check out?

Our latest single Hunger is out now, and it’s all about resilience and growth, inspired by the concept of kintsugi – finding beauty in the broken. We’ll be dropping a lyric video soon to accompany it, and we’re also diving into the sequels, so there’s more to look forward to!

Regarding a similar audience, which band at the minute do you feel that Saints Among Us would be best suited to open for?

It would be a dream to open for bands like Spiritbox, Dream State, or PVRIS. We admire how they blend emotion with innovation, creating music that resonates deeply while challenging the boundaries of alternative rock and metal. Sharing the stage with any of these bands would be an incredible opportunity for us.

Excluding yourself, which new band would you like to see break out and become a success?

There’s so much incredible talent out there, but if we had to highlight one band, it would be Bansith. Their energy, creativity, and fresh approach to music are truly inspiring, and they’re definitely one to watch.

What frustrates you about the music business?

The focus on algorithms over artistry can be disheartening. It sometimes feels like the industry values numbers more than raw talent and passion. That said, we’re grateful for platforms that allow us to connect directly with fans who truly care about music.

What are your first musical memories? And what lightbulb moment made you say, “I want to do that”?

Growing up, I spent a lot of time at gigs with my dad, and those early experiences really influenced my musical journey. When a friend introduced me to guitar, I found myself naturally drawn to singing and playing. It all clicked over time, and I knew music was something I had to pursue.

What was the last gig that you attended as a fan?

The last gig I went to was The Killers at the Keepmoat Stadium with my dad. I’ve seen them play before, but something about being at a venue I’ve always visited for footy and other events made it feel much more special.

What current social issues are you particularly passionate about?

Mental health is something we’re deeply passionate about, and we aim to tell different stories through our music that reflect various mental health struggles. We believe in creating safe spaces where people feel seen and supported—both through our music and through our actions. Additionally, we’re committed to raising awareness for mental health initiatives like Andy’s Man Club, as we know how important it is to have open conversations and support networks. These causes are close to our hearts, and we want to help make a positive impact.

The album that you have in your album collection/Spotify playlist that would surprise most people?

Probably Mac Miller. A lot of people might be surprised to hear that, but I’ve always appreciated his music. He had such a unique sound, and his later albums really resonated with me.

Everybody is a fan of something. Who or what are you a fan of?

I’m a fan of gaming. It’s a good way to relax and escape for a bit.

What new music have you been enjoying so far this year?

I’ve been really into Sleep Token this year. Their music has such a unique vibe—dark, atmospheric, but also really emotional. It’s been on repeat. And I’m actually seeing them live at the end of the month!!

What do the next few months hold for Saints Among Us?

With Hunger out and the release show behind us, the rest of 2024 is all about finalising new music and preparing for the next releases. We’ve got some exciting things in the works that will build on what we’ve already put out—so keep an eye out!

How active are you on social media and where can people connect with you?

We’re pretty active on social media—it’s one of the best ways to connect with our fans and share what’s happening behind the scenes. You can find us on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Twitter, where we post updates, gig announcements, and some fun, spontaneous content. Just search for Saints Among Us and come say hi!
