Introducing: Paint Me Crimson

Alt-metal quintet Paint Me Crimson was formed in 2023, walking in the footsteps of giants Bring Me The Horizon, Sleep Token, and Linkin Park. Bound together on a cathartic journey, the Londoners aim to translate the madness of this world into unpredictable tunes.

What are the origins of Paint Me Crimson, how long have you been playing together?

For some obscure reasons, French vocalist Bill Rouat ended up moving to the UK and finally realised his dark soul was actually asking for something heavier, something that could unveil the ugly truth in the most beautiful way. Fucked up in a beautiful way was guitarist and producer Danil Almeida, and when Bill slid in his DM’S, sparks immediately started to fly. The boys thought they needed a drummer, so bass player Judy Rhodes kindly let them know they needed her. Bill’s most questionable DM sliding would come to bite his own rear when he realised drummer Tyler Evans was actually the most dangerous of them all. Too late, he had friends you can’t really refuse anything for your own good, friends like guitarist George O’Connor.

Songs were written, beverages were consumed, and in October 2023, Camden witnessed this madness get a name: Paint Me Crimson.

What should people expect when they check Paint Me Crimson out?

The unexpected. No PMC song is the same. No PMC show is the same. And if you let us touch your soul, you will not be the same. Call us alternative, metal, metalcore even. Our limits don’t exist.

How did you feel after your first gig as a band?

Felt the beginning of something special at the Fiddler’s Elbow, a first connection with the audience, and as people painted red lines on their faces, we felt like in that moment, we were all one.

What are you working on at the minute that people can check out?

We released our debut single “Ghost Over My Shoulder” end of April, and we’re recording the second one in July with As December Falls’ producer Alex Copp, stay tuned!

The band that Paint Me Crimson are best suited to open for?

Not an easy one. But we’d be keen to open for our friends High Regard soon.

Excluding yourself, which new band would you like to see break out and become a success?

Calva Louise

What frustrates you about the music business?

Pushing artists who sound like 100 others instead of taking a risk and trying creativity.

What are your first musical memories? And what lightbulb moment made you say “I want to do that”?

First rock record in the CD player (hello 2000s), and immediately thinking I wanna do this, and I wanna do it for the rest of my life.

The last gig attended as a fan?

Download Festival

Current social issues that you are passionate about?

Abuse in all its forms, causing damage beyond imagination. War, because it’s never ours. Love, because there’s too much hatred.

Spotify playlist that would surprise most people:

JJ (bass & weird playlister): Oh yeah, got one. It’s literally filled with Pop/RnB etc songs I really like. It’d surprise people the most because you’d take one look at me and never guess I liked Girls Aloud or Lily Allen. I probably should add Madness to that playlist as well at some point. I haven’t been back to add anything in a while…

What are you a fan of?

People who dare to be different. And food.

What new music have you been enjoying this year?

New BMTH, Sleep Token, Bad Omens, Palaye Royale, and also discovered Calva Louise, Break Fate, and High Regard.

What does 2024 hold for Paint Me Crimson?

We actually don’t know and that’s a wonderful feeling. We make plans and work hard on many things that still need to be built. We’re an 8-month-old band and we’re about to release our biggest work yet, it’s called BLINDSIGHT.

How active are you on social media?

We’re very active on Instagram and TikTok, doing all sorts of weird (but funny) shit on there. Our YouTube channel is not too boring as well, and our Facebook seems to mysteriously get followed. We’re on all streaming platforms like Spotify & Apple Music if you want to check that out.
