Introducing: Around 7

Around 7 is a 3-piece alternative punk rock band from Forfar, Scotland. They have been skating the lines between 90s West Coast punk rock and anthemic alternative rock since their high school days. With melodic riffs, memorable choruses, aggressive dirty bass lines, heavy-hitting technical drumming…and a sock monkey mascot, they are a force to be reckoned with!

In 2023 the band released the singles ‘Breakthrough’ and ‘This Ain’t Your Soundtrack’ which gave the trio a platform and increased visibility across the pop-punk scene in the UK with both tracks receiving solid airplay. The band were no strangers to performing live but this allowed them to stretch their wings and head out across the country on tour. The band caught the attention of SODEH Records and signed a digital distribution with them this year.

What are the origins of Around 7, how long have you been playing together?

We all met when we were in high school and have been playing together since October 2011.

What are you working on at the minute that people can check out?

We’re currently working on a lot for material at the moment for our upcoming album and you can check out our latest single, Will To Survive, on all major streaming platforms.

Excluding yourself, which new band would you like to see break out and become a success?

We would love to see Stay For Tomorrow make it! We would also love to see Fate Has Favourites go far!

What frustrates you about the music business?

There’s a lot of people within the industry that don’t seem to know what they’re doing. Promoters not knowing how to promote, that sort of thing. Communication between everyone seems to be lacking these days and it isn’t brought up enough.

What was the last gig that you attended as a fan?

We all went down to see The Guillotines, Dog Eared, The Overbites and Aftrshocks at a punk night in Dundee a wee while ago.

The album that you have in your album collection/Spotify playlist that would surprise most people?

Chebs: Rodriguez – Cold Fact, Ryan: Watsky – Sloppy Seconds, Lachlan: Jack Johnson – In Between Dreams

What does 2024 hold for Around 7?

This is our first year signed to SODEH Records so that’s a massive change for us. We’re hoping to be gigging more, have a few more tunes out than last year and we’ll also be facing a lineup change as Chebs, who has been with us since the start, will be leaving us to head off to university later this year.

How active are you on social media and where can people connect with you?

We are active most days. We use our Instagram and Facebook accounts more than any of the others so fans are best connecting with us there.
