Review: Gorilla Riot – 'American Honey Vol.1'

I’m drunk I can’t drink no more, but I can still hear you whine…”. ‘Down The Road’ is of similar pace and vibe; ‘Exile On Main Street’ meets ‘The Southern Harmony & Musical Companion’, and the end result is a fantastic four minutes that’s hard to get out of your head. I’m still humming it now. ‘Last Hymn’ closes the EP out, and blends in well with the new tracks. The backing vocals give it an authentic rootsy feel. This would be special to see with everyone sat around on acoustic guitars and drummer David Thomas beating out a rhythm, straddling a cajon. ‘American Honey Vol. 1’ is four tracks of rootsy, bare-boned perfection, from a band offering up something a little different from the pack. Available now. More information here. Review: Dave]]>
