Formed in Corby, England, alternative rock trio Veins recently released their long-awaited debut album, ‘A New Forever’, and the guys were on hand to chat about the album and what people can expect once they seek the band out.
What are the origins of the band? How long have you been playing together?
Scott (bass) – We’ve been together for 10 years this year, but we went a bit quiet for a few years in the middle.
I have known Stevie (vocals/guitar) and Dan (drums) for around 15 – 20 years and have played in other bands with both of them previously, but Dan and Stevie met through Veins.
What should people expect when they check the band out? How would you describe Veins?
Stevie – We have quite a dark and moody sound. Lots of atmospheric guitar layers, gritty bass, and powerful drums with melodic vocal harmonies.
How did you feel performing your first gig as a band, and how was it?!
Stevie – We’ve all been in touring bands previous to Veins, so we were all comfortable performing, but naturally there was first gig nerves, especially as a lot of friends were there and they are usually the worst critics haha. Despite that, it did go very well, and we got a lot of good feedback.
Scott – I always remember one of our friends describing it as “like listening to the end of every film ever – in a good way!”

What are you working on at the minute that people can check out?
Stevie – Our album ‘A New Forever’ came out on June 5th.
Scott – We’ve been very guilty of being slow and leaving long gaps between releases, so we’re trying to be a bit more proactive and continue the momentum, so we’re already planning a new single for after the album, which we hope to record shortly.
Regarding a similar audience, which band at the minute do you feel that you would be best suited to open for?
Scott – There are dream bands Deftones, Sigor Ros, The Cure, but I don’t know about more current bands…I never quite know where we fit.
Excluding yourself, which new band would you like to see break out and become a success?
Stevie – I would like to see Unpeople doing well…well, they are doing well, but even better.
Scott – And not just cause Jake is from Corby, haha, I’ll also add to that our mates in Creation Myths.
What frustrates you about the music business?
Stevie – Well, nothing that can change, just the number of bands and how much space is available to get noticed, but that’s every field in life these days, and so it’s not really too much of a grumble.
Scott – How hard it is for bands to make enough to survive and keep doing what they are doing.
What are your first musical memories? And what lightbulb moment made you say “I want to do that”?
Scott – Going to see my Uncle Chris drumming in various bands and him going off to play abroad and things like that…and bringing me a Queen T-shirt back from one of their gigs! It initially made me want to be a drummer, but I also got into guitar and eventually bass.
Stevie – It was my friend who was an amazing guitar player. He showed me some things and got me into the Metallica black album. Haven’t looked back.

What was the last gig that you attended as a fan?
Scott – I went to a multi-venue fest in Sheffield called ‘Get Together’ headlined by The Horrors. It was a great day.
Stevie – Last gig was the Lemonheads. It was fucking awful. I actually felt bad for Evan Dando; he was soooo fucked.
What current social issues are you particularly passionate about?
Stevie – I’ve always had a heart for the homeless. We should not have any problem with this topic in the UK, yet we have a lack of housing & support. It is so difficult to get help, especially for single males.
Scott – I’m just totally bemused by the state of everything right now. It’s a strange time to be alive.
What album do you have in your album collection/Spotify playlist that would surprise most people?
Stevie – K-pop Demon Hunters soundtrack haha. It actually has some banging songs. I have a daughter if you need an excuse.
Everybody is a fan of something. Who or what are you a fan of?
Stevie – I’m a big fan of the UFC. I had a friend from school who was ranked 3rd at the time & I haven’t stopped following.
Scott – I’m just a bit of a music geek. I get really into the history of bands and genres and the cultural impact, etc.
What new music have you enjoyed so far this year?
Stevie – I’ve been enjoying Sigrid.
Scott – er, I’ve recently been listening to Formal Sppeedwear after seeing them at Get Together.
What does the rest of 2026 hold for Veins?
Stevie – The album and singles mentioned earlier, and we have some gigs and festivals lined up, which we are really looking forward to.
Scott – Readers should follow on social media for updates.
How active are you on social media, and where can people connect with you?
Scott – We’re fairly active and trying to be better at it, ha. If people check out https://linktr.ee/veinsbanduk that will take them to details of shows, music, videos, and our social links.
