Formed in 2023, CANE ROUGE unite the formidable talents of Ant Clarke (vocals/guitar), Dale McGee (drums), and Joe Harrison-Brown (bass). Blending the gritty textures of ’90s grunge with punk urgency and a splash of indie sharpness, the trio have quickly carved out a name for themselves through electrifying live shows and an unapologetically raw sound.
Since making their live debut in April 2023, CANE ROUGE have been turning heads across the North of England. Their intense stage presence and emotional performances have earned them coverage in tastemaker mags such as NARC. and DIRGE, as well as regular airplay on SparkFM, Nova Radio, FutureHits, and BishopFM—clear evidence of their growing momentum in the UK’s alt-rock landscape.
Following the success of their debut EP Embers—released independently in Summer 2024 and now sitting at nearly 25,000 streams on Spotify—the band are ready to raise the stakes. Lights Out marks a bold next step, digging deeper into emotionally raw territory while showcasing their evolving sound. The EP was recorded with producer Mark Folland at The Studio in Hartlepool and captures the band at their most honest and intense. “These songs belong entirely on their own in the world of Cane Rouge,” says frontman Ant Clarke. “They’re emotionally deep and raw—I wanted to go somewhere lyrically I hadn’t been before.”
New single Turbulence channels that same spirit—gritty, cathartic, and unrelentingly powerful. Paired with a visually striking music video, it offers a compelling glimpse into what’s to come on Lights Out.
