Introducing: Tradmrkd

Tradmrkd

Tradmrkd are an alternative rock band from the North East of Scotland, Ed fills in the blanks on introducing: Tradmrkd…

What are the origins of the band, how long have you been playing together?

We formed in November of 2018 where it was only myself and Edward. I went to college with James and knew he played drums, I contacted him about potentially joining our band on which he agreed to. So originally we were just a 3 piece, Edward then asked Corey to come jam with us and when he did we knew we had something special. Its been the 4 of us ever since.

How did you feel performing your first gig? And how was it?!

Me personally O was a bag of nerves! We had our soundcheck 2 hours before we went on and I couldn’t settle after that, nothing a few pints couldn’t handle though. It passed by so quick, so honestly I can’t really remember it. From what feedback we got I think we did pretty good!

What should people expect when they check the band/you out? How would you describe yourself?

People should expect some hard hitting tunes, most of our songs are based on stories so they have a meaning. Ed is a good lyricist and can create the perfect blend with the lyrics and the riffs. I’d describe our music as being indie/pop punk, we’re influenced heavily by Green Day and I feel that really comes out.

The new music scene is bursting at the seams with fresh talent, in what ways do you feel that a band has to stand out from the others trying to build a name?

We have to be different. Period. There’s so much competition out there and its up to us to do as much as we can to break the mould.

What are you working on at the minute that people can check out?

We’re still writing but have a handful of demos available on our soundcloud. We hope to make a start to our debut EP soon.

What band out there at the minute do you feel that you would be best suited to open for?

Me personally I’d say Blossoms, they’re a popular band at the minute and their audience is the type we’re trying to capture.

Who do you feel is the next band to break out of the UK?

Glass Monkey. They’re from the same area as us and have some proper good tunes. Check them out!!

What are your first musical memories? And what was the lightbulb moment that made you go “I want to do that”?

For me it was the first time that I heard Guns N Roses, I was quite young at the time and I knew that I wanted to be a rock-star. As cliched as it sounds.

What was the last gig that you attended as a fan?

Liam Gallagher in Aberdeen. Was absolutely class

The album that you have in your album collection/spotify playlist that would surprise most people?

Country Rocks. Always been a massive fan of country music, which surprises a few people.

What are your plans for 2020?

To play lots more gig and hopefully grow our fanbase, to be able to get a few tunes out would be an added bonus.

How active are you on social media and where can people connect with you?

We’re very active on our Facebook page. Any updates/news can be found on there. Were also very responsive to messages and questions!
