Italian outfit Lucifour M is a trio whose multifaceted and multidimensional music features many references to cinematic works, band member Mattia Dallara talks us through the background of the band.
What are the origins of the band, how long have you been playing together?
About 1 year…we came from different experiences, we had met already in the past working in other projects…but Marco and Michele really met for this at some gig….then I joined and in a moment we arrived here! When you have fun, time passes very fast, we began just jamming and in few months we recorded a bunch of songs that are included in our 2 EP’s
How did you feel performing your first gig? And how was it?!
Hot!….Yeah…it was Berlin…and coming from Italy, we expected it to be fresh if not cold….but instead it was tremendously hot and people started get naked!…yeah crazy night!
What should people expect when they check the band out? How would you describe yourself?
We are a pop band…we play pop music, but we are very eclectic I think…and so every song is very different from the others…or that is our intention at least! There is a strong component of R&B probably but a lot of other influences as well….
The new music scene is bursting at the seams with fresh talent, in what ways do you feel that a band has to stand out from the others trying to build a name?
A band…an artist has to do what he knows better: playing music at his best. The rest is secondary. You cant pretend to move people if you are not the first that really honestly thinks that his music is great! But you have to be very honest and severe with yourself…then maybe you can impress even somebody else….maybe…
What are you working on at the minute that people can check out?
We are planning tour gigs…but now moving them forward….due to Corona Virus problems around Europe….we will see…
What band out there at the minute do you feel that you would be best suited to open for?
Prince! But he is sadly passed away…but…thinking to the new ones…maybe Balthazar could be a great slot, for us and their audience as well
Who do you feel is the next band to break out?
Balthazar
What are your first musical memories? And what was the light bulb moment that made you go “I want to do that”?
So many…I don’t know…from Pino Daniele (Italian artist) to Stone Temple Pilots!…I was listening to them amongst others when I really started working properly with music and started recording artists in my home area…
What was the last gig that you attended as a fan?
MACK
The album that you have in your album collection/spotify playlist that would surprise most people?
Paranoid by Black Sabbath!
What are your plans for 2020?
Playing live…we want, we need it, we really cant wait…y’know we are at home boring ourselves to death for this Corona Virus…but we will back very soon!
How active are you on social media and where can people connect with you?
We are very active, Instagram, twitter and facebook are the preferred ones…but anybody can join share and write…we always reply!
