Introducing: Broken Lines

Broken Lines are a, UK based, alternative band whose mantra is to create upbeat, energetic music and just about anything else that grabs them. Bassist Mark Briscoe fills in the blanks…
What are the origins of the band, and how long have you been playing together?
MB: Broken Lines was formed in 2014 in Pembrokeshire, West Wales. We are a three piece band playing unique and original music. Our emphasis is on creating upbeat and energetic music with punk, rock, psychedelic and just about anything else that influences us! We play for the love and enjoyment of music and aim to portray that in our songs and performances. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow and serene, but always refreshing and uniquely our own. Strong beats and growling bass punctuated with searing guitar and a vocal performance to match, delivering an experience that is intense, exciting and emotionally charged.
How did you feel performing your first gig, and how was it?!
MB: It was great; we delivered a great set and went down really well.
What should people expect when they check the band out? How would you describe yourselves?
MB: Three people making a fucking huge noise!
The new music scene is bursting at the seams with fresh talent. In what ways do you feel a band has to stand out from the others trying to build a name?
MB: Where we come from you simply stand out by not being a covers band! We stand out by the sheer size of our music.
What are you currently working on that people can check out?
MB: We will be releasing a few singles and a new album this year, coronavirus permitting. Or we’ll be dead!
What band out there at the moment do you feel that you would be best suited to open for?
MB: Cruelty, from Bristol.
Which band do you feel is the next likely to break out?
MB: Broken Lines of course!
What are your first musical memories? And what was the light bulb moment that made you go “I want to do that?”
Peaches by The Stranglers. No bass had ever sounded like that before… until now!
What was the last gig that you attended as a fan?
MB: Dr Hook
What is the album that you have in your collection or Spotify playlist that would surprise most people?
MB: God, there are so many. How about La-Di-Dah by Jake Thackray!
What are your plans for 2020?
MB: As things currently stand, to survive it!
How active are you on social media, and where can people connect with you?
