Introducing: A Moments Notice

A Moments Notice are a Sacramento-based metalcore band, and thanks to the wonders of the good old interweb, vocalist Greg Molina was able to talk us through the background of the band. Connect with Greg, below…

What are the origins of A Moments Notice, how long have you been playing together?

The origins of the band are from all over, each member has been playing music for over a decade. Only two of the members, David and Jonny are familiar with metalcore from playing it. The rest of us came from more of a deathcore/Djent style of music. We have been playing together for about 6 months now. The band originally formed as a solo project for myself and later became a full band.

What should people expect when they check the band out? How would you describe A Moments Notice?

Honestly, it’s a breath of fresh air, we hope people hear elements of the old heavy metalcore sound instrumentally with a new age twist. I would like to think that the band is diverse and memorable as a whole. We are bringing a unique sound that hasn’t been heard in a long time.

How did you feel performing your first gig as a band, and how was it?!

Oddly enough we have yet to play a show together, we have been super busy writing the record and waiting till that is done to finally play a show.

The new music scene is bursting at the seams at the minute with fresh talent, in what ways do you feel that a band has to stand out to build a name for themselves?

We are playing off nostalgia a lot with the new era twist; it will definitely stand out for anyone listening.

What are you working on at the minute that people can check out?

Our Instagram is pretty active for the most part, we try to keep up on it and hope that people are ready for our single with a music video being released mid-spring.

In terms of a similar audience, which band out there at the minute do you feel A Moments Notice would be best suited to open for?

I would say If I Were You, Alpha Wolf, Memphis May Fire, and A Skylit Drive.

Excluding yourself, which new band would you like to see break out and become a success?

Sunspear from Sacramento is probably the next band to break out. Those guys really dedicate time to the music and have been releasing amazing music.

What are your own first musical memories? And what was the lightbulb moment that made you go “I want to do that”?

I honestly have to say the first show I went to with As Blood Runs Black headline with Born of Osiris. That moment was when I knew every fibre of my being wanted to do this more than anything.

What was the last gig that you attended as a fan?

Actually just saw some great homies of mine from A Foreign Affair play and it was amazing.

What current social issue are you particularly passionate about?

I tend to stay out of social issues because I don’t want others to view me off of my opinions even if a lot of people agree. I tend to keep it professional and about music. I am not saying if you pull me aside and ask I would openly talk about it but I will read the conversation a little better

The album that you have in your album collection/Spotify playlist that would surprise most people?

As of lately, people are shocked that I listen to pop-punk a lot. I would say that’s probably pretty high up there on the list of albums people would be shocked. Spotify playlist would probably be Teddy Swims or Scarypoolparty.

Although 2021 was another year to forget, there were some amazing new albums released, what would be your album of last year? And, what new music have you been enjoying so far this year?

Imminence dropped some heat. Honestly got to say Volumes has a banger of a record that came out recently this year and it’s a heavy repeat for me.

What does 2022 hold for A Moments Notice?

New record, music videos, more merch, a bunch of shows, and a potential tour in talks

How active are you on social media and where can people connect with you?

We try to stay as active as possible posting interviews and podcasts we have been on and many more. Everyone can check out our social media via our linktree which I will leave on here for anyone to check us out.
